London United Hurricanes - First Storm of the Season!
02/03/2004
The London United 91 Hurricanes took the Indoor Ontario Soccer Cup title by storm this weekend! The under 13 girls team beat the Ajax Warriors 2 to 0 in the final game on Sunday, January 31st in Toronto. The girls advanced to the title game by sweeping four games straight against the remaining Ontario Cup finalists, including Brampton, Waterloo, Mississauga and Woodbridge.
Head Coaches Terry Marcoccia and Bob Craig would like to congratulate all the girls (listed below) for an outstanding job - and they would like to thank Harry Johnston and Steve Mackie for coaching the indoor season. A special thank is extended to team manager, Brenda Macaulay who is major organizer for the team, both in the outdoor and indoor seasons.
In outdoor play, The 91 Hurricanes were winners of 2003 West Region league and they won several tournaments with top ranked teams from around the province. This year, the girls will be challenging some of those teams on a regular basis by playing in the South Region league. Highly competitive teams will square off from Toronto to Windsor.
If today's win is an indicator, the 91 Hurricanes should prove to be a fierce competitor.
Tryouts for the 2004 outdoor season are currently underway. Interested girls should contact Terry Marcoccia at 519 453-3685 or Bob Craig at 519 673-5372. The team is also actively looking for a sponsor or sponsors to assist with operating costs. The team promises high visibility and recognition for its sponsors' logos, along with the highly reputable, London United banner.
Once again, congratulations to members of the 2004 Indoor Ontario Cup squad!
