Tom Dunleavy Bursary - "Advancing Educational Endeavours with Soccer Pursuits"
This Year's recipients of the Bursary were Lindsey Boland of London enrolled at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia and Lucas Martin of Thornhill enrolled at Sir WIlfred Laurier in Waterloo, both recipients of the $2,500 Bursaries.
Lindsey grew up in London and attended Oakridge Secondary school. Not only did Lindsey play basketball, soccer, and volleyball at school she was involved with many volunteer activities including the athletic association, Oakridge Foundation Basketball Tournament, and the Ontario Special Olympics. Apart from highschool soccer, Lindsey has also been playing with the London United Soccer Club (OYSL) since 1996.
While living in Thornhill, Lucas has enjoyred playing soccer for the North Mississauga SC(OYSL), Richmond Hill SC (OYSL) and the Markham SC. He has also been a soccer referee since he was 12 years old. He attended Thornlea Secondary School where he not only excelled as an athlete on the soccer and track team but also in the classroom as a student. Lucas hopes to continue his academic pursuits at Laurier studying Business Administration.
